Alan, Ignore the IK8 station, or give him a FIRM blast on the air. Make sure he KNOWS that you are referring to him. You don't need one bad apple to ruin it for the whole "bushel" of 6m ops worldwide you really APPRECIATE your being there. (we do!) Thanks for the reports. Kinda interesting to see know what's happening in the more southerly regions of the globe. Another year at least for us "Northerners" where the MUF has barely reached 28Mhz by times. Alan, do not go QRT, be strong and aggressive and personalise your attack on the air! Do NOT suffer interference from an individual. I think I know who you mean as he is a well known problem maker on 6m. Publicise his call and refuse to QSL him if he carries on. Alan, you won't be getting much sleep as the cycle progresses! From your area I'd guess late evening openings will soon be the norm. I remember PY5CC, last cycle commenting on TR8CA being 59+40 with his 3W. Nice to meet you at the weekend Chris (GM3WOJ) ...guess "we" will spend a frustrating few months, later this year waiting for the MUF to reach us in the north.

How do we reach the people who repeatedly QRM?? On the opening on Feb 22, one IK8 station repeatedly QRM'd QSOs trying to breakin - it was 6 times so I then went QRT!! To those few people who QRM, please wait until a QSO is over!! You will get your contact much quicker. Maybe other stations can help bring these rebels into line??!! Can we all talk to them about the problem? How do other DX stations handle it? Do they go QRT also??!! I don't like to go QRT, but what's the point when I can't hear? OX-HAMS!? I was pretty excited to hear the OX3VHF/b the other night at my very minimal portable QTH in fn76. Called CQ for over an hour but never heard any OX hams. I wonder what the STATUS is for ox3lg and the other ox3 op that is mentioned on the UKSMG webpage? Are they monitoring often? What are their grids? Do they have email? Can we call them on the LL? Would be nice to get some kind of rapport gg with them, or at least find out a little bit more about there op habits...............73 - MIKE

JA7ZMA Fukushima Beacon has returned on the air from first week of this month and well. In addition to replacement of cooling fan and adjustment of its TX, I have built new message generator with output power variation, SWR detection/protection and a SWR warning function. For protection of a final amp and indication for a local operator this function will automatically QRP its output power and switch transmitting message to "DE JA7ZMA BT ANT SWR TOO HIGH BT NW QRP" when high SWR. In normal state TX run at 50/10/1/0.1W output. Please use JA7ZMA, JA1ZYK, JA6YBR, JR6YAG, JA2IGY for prediction of 6m opening.

Last evening AU conditions on 6M from KL7 BP51 and BP64 Fairbanks. VE8WD Beacon copied on 50.019 from N/E at 599 for an hour or so at 0830z approx. Steve KL7FZ copied un/id signals on 50.125 and worked KL7MO/AL7OC in Fairbanks on AU. It is a pity despite all the reports of VE beacons over the two months I have been here no QSO's have taken place mainly due to the lateness of the hour back east. Hi Magic-Banders, Cleaning out the shack a bit since I will not be occupying it for at least the next 2 years, while away at school in another city. I have a "CIRKIT" 6m transverter for sale. Aprox. 5+ years old. It requires low-level 10m drive, and puts out slightly less than 1w of 6m RF. Housed in a very rugged aluminum case. Provisions for an RF OP meter, though one is not installed. Relay inside unit switches TX/RX. c/w photcopy of manual and a couple of cables. The unit will require the buyer to replace 2 PIN diodes that the previous owner removed for a future transmit modification that he never completed. They are used to control the input RF levels. Dan WL7BD works on the North West Slopes in the Artic Circle (Closer to Europe) and has indicated that 6M activity will occur in that region and that preparation is being made to establish a station for the expressed prupose of long distance dx working. Dan is taking a Ringo vertical and scanning receiver and has indicated to me that reception reports of 30/40 Mhz pagers and as high as 88 Mhz FM has occurred on the slopes during 1991/1992. Following the 6M presentation to the Anchorage Amateur Radio Club on Friday, several amateurs have indicated their desire to participate in attempts to be the first KL7's to work Europe. Steve NT0J is here (I worked him from Biloxi MIS as VK3OT) as well as at least 20 other 6M stations, some with high power and advanced capabilities like Steve KL7FZ 400 watts and potential to run 1500 and Dan KL7Y high tower and high power. So the rest is up to us/you and I will discuss this at my presentation in London on Feb 22nd, which is being chnaged in format to reflect my KL7 experiences and the degree of difficulty at working here. 73 and see you in London.

More information about the 40.691 Mhz radar. It is unique to KL7 ie. no other radar is on this frequency. It can beam in 5 different dorections of 60 degree segments from S/east to S/West. The Tx uses a Henry Amplifier QSK with 1600 watts pulse output. The slaves all transmit on 47.110 at 300 watts pulse output on an ACK cycle sending back the data such as river height, temp, and other environmental data. Meteor links up to 1500 kM are the normal using only inverted vee antenna at the far end. The master will stay with a particular slave and poll it until the link is reestablished. These systems are in use world wide and in partricukar at Davis Antarctica in 1995 when it was heard on 44.8 Mhz at high strength in VK3 just before the opening to VK0IX Casey Base on 6M. The Anchorage radar was heard for many days in S/E VK during 1992 in particular. I will post the loggings when I return home in March. So put 40.690 +/- into your memory and the radios as well, it is your best shot for over the pole indicators followed by 49.635 Elmendorf AFB DARN.

To VK6RO 15M was open yesterday from2400z to after 0200z worked VK7IK on 21.207 and VK4. KL7SIX is available for issue, what doeas anyone think about an individual having that call. Maybe it should be kept for radio club. Like KH6SIX which has just been issued to a group called 50 Mhz mongrels or some such title. Steve. Incidentally calls being issued in KL7 at the moment include AL 1 thru zero and KL1 thru zero, NL 1 thru zero and WL 1 thru zero, so dont be fooled if you work an AL something as it could be Alaska. I can get AL3OT if I wish. Which could be confused with AX3OT which was legitimate on Jan 26th last. Steve AX3OT/AL3????
