Please, somebody make a recording of the PJ2SIX-beacon on 50.004 MHz and send it as an attachment in e-mail to , thanks. The PJ2SIX beacon was a good indicator for longpath 50 MHz to Japan in March 1992. With the present flux outbursts the longpath condx may return at this time of the year as well. PJ2/OH1ZAA worked more than 120 JA's on longpath on several days in 1992. Good luck, Zaba OH1ZAA (constructor of PJ2SIX)

JA1ZYK beacon on 50.023 at Chiba, QM05BR is a homebrew beacon which is running 10W, 2.5W, 1W and 0.1W into a hentenna on 30m AGL (55m ASL) at the mast-top of my tower. The power variation is intended to observe propagation loss and noise floor at the receiving point. Please note that it may suddenly stop due to modification, adjustment and my QRV on 6m. The hentenna is beamed toward east-west but a few radiation toward the south directionmay be occurring because of a 7-element Yagi mounted just under the hentenna and is normally beamed toward the south. Thank you very much to both Steve, VK3OT and VK3SIX for the reports to grow the propagation distance record of this beacon.

Another day in sunny VK, hotest day in 81 years going for a high of 39 maybe 43 up North. Anyone want to try for South America over the poles today, if I can stand it in the shack with the flies. They all take refuge when its over 36 degrees. QSX 28.885 and 50.107 CW mode VK3OT or VK2QF.

*** Z D 7 W R G ***, ve1yx reports that Johnny/zd7wrg on St. Helena is in fact QRV on 6m. I have not seen any 6m reports of EU's working him yet, so I would suggest some of you folks get ahold of him on 10m or 15m and "rattle his chain" as it were. I would do it myself, but I am severly restricted in my RF emissions from my portable QTH. I can't stand to see near-dailey reports of zd8/b, v51/b, etc. and people not making an attempt to get all those "lazy" 6m ops QRV. Let them know for heavens sake, hi hi! ZD7WRG was on 28.468 for many hours today, working half the world. GL to all de ve9aa/p/qrpp in fn76, NB , Canada

19th between 0445 and 0600z saw good opening between VK2 North/VK4 SE and JA areas. VK4KK also worked YJ8UU at the change of the GMT day. Tim V73AT is hearing VK2/VK4 TV video each day but no amateur signals. ZL TV Vision, Sound and Pictures were in last evening from 0900z on 45.250 cf but no amateur signals heard, or beacons. JA 10M beacons provide daily indications of rising MUF. VK8 10M beacon provides evidence of an E layer extension into the afternoon TE region from SE Australia. VK 6M activity seems at an all time low and should improve when VK's knock off for Xmas holidays in four weeks time.

Has something happened to the GB3LER beacon? I can usually hear it regularly on ms but despite listening often for the best part of a week I have'nt heard a single ping from it. Can anyone confirm or dispel that it has gone down. Maybe I,ve just been incredibly unlucky but it would be a major blow if it has gone down as it is almost always the first to indicate auroral conditions.73

Recently a maintenance of JA7ZMA beacon has finished and now it is on the air again with a new message. This is a dual band beacon which transmit exactly same message at the same time on 50.027 and 28.188 MHz. Grid Locator: QM07EQ, 300m ASL. 28 MHz: 50W output into 5/8 wave length GP, 9mH. 50 MHz: 50W output into stacked turn-style, 11 mH. Stack distance = 5/8 wave length. SWL report to the administrator will be much appreciated: Kinya Honda, JH7DHS, P.O.Box 29 Fukushima 960 Japan. I have donated home brew 6m turn-style and a message generator of this beacon. de Han, JE1BMJ
