Another great opening today to northern Europe. Vy pleased to work 3 OH stns running 200 & 300 milliwatts on SSB. They peaked S9, unfortunately because of the large pileup did not note their calls, next time will put /QRP. Tnx always a thrill to wrk stns like that. 73

Just received Buro envelop today. I used to think 1 year is ok but now it is more like 19 months 1 way. Received today from June 2000: IK0FTA, DF3FJ, IK1EGC, IK0IXO, DK0DR(July), and the speed record holder I4SJZ from Oct 2000. The buro does save a lot of money so wont complain too much, but do not want to receive complaints either, not my fault. I send lots of cards direct to that countries buro to save time, like G, I, DL, PY, LU but others it looks like a 3+ year round trip. Latest card received via Buro is Feb 2001(low bands) 73 All

Sorry to hear about your "spare" aluminium Claus. You should try a quad loop at 5 metres above ground. That's what I have these days and it survived the storm. Of course its no good for working DX but then you can't have everything can you ... Hope you can repair/rebuild/re-buy soon. 73,

Following yesterdays storm I have a selection of aluminum tubing for sale. With a little bit of mechanical work several elements capable of providing ressonance as low as 200 MHz can be made. Also some slightly bend 3" steel tubing is available for those interested.

Re. VE2TH QSL: Checked my records, a card was sent to you. Can only assume it was a victum of the mail system !! I will make the exception and send you another one. My QSL policy is simple: Direct only with SASE $1 or 1 IRC. I no longer use the RSGB buro, long story... Do not pay attention to a certain G4 who does not speak on my behalf. I do not find QSLing a chore, just very time consuming with the large amount I get here. At the moment all cards have been posted. 73 and enjoy SIX...

IRCs: today I have received an IRC of a new style. These new IRCs are really king-size (about the same as a QSL card...) and, contrary to old IRCs, they have a limited validity (the one I received is good until 31/12/2006). Does anyone know whether old IRCs can still be redeemed, and until when? I checked the UPU web site, but I was unable to trace this information within the tons of material shown there. Thanks.

Interesting spots on DX cluster:"OK1TN cw is spirit of amateur radio 0940 28 Jan" followed by "YU1BW-@ 6m is NOT FOR NOCODE CLASS 0942 28 Jan" I don't disagree with the first comment but the TRUE spirit of ham radio is about friendship and self training - the second comment gives me little hope for the future of our great hobby. A no-coder for 35 years - I only use CW when condx make it necessary - surely that is what it is for. 73

Not a so great day for us in Portugal (IN50), started by hearing JT1CO in 50112 with a 559 for a 30min. opening but no way to break in the pile-up, RX9FM in Perm was the only thrill for us being 59 for 15min. and then disapeared, I guess we are too much to the South-West Tip of Europe and openings are diferent to us ! Nodir, EY8MM, I was always listening on your frequency and heard a burst from you at around 09:00UTC, but things happen a bit later for us, my guess is that EY8CT1 is possible sometime between 10:00 to 10:30 UTC. RX9 is definitely Asiatic Russia. The administrative boundary between Asiatic and European Russia (i.e. what counts for DXCC) does not precisely coincide with the geographical Europe/Asia boundary. For instance the city of Ufa (UA9W) is west of the Urals and lies in zone 16, but it still counts for Asiatic Russia. With regard to Perm (UA9F) there is no doubt at all, that city being west of the Urals and in zone 17. 73

Good run of EU today. 263 qso's loged. Was looking for CT, OY, GJ and some other rare one with no luck. Someone mentioned poor RX on my side. This is true. Electric system put Power Lines 50 meters from my antenna. RX is a hard job. But I recon it is better than nothing. So please be tolerant.

To anyone waiting for a direct 6m QSL card from AA6TT, I ordered 10,000 cards from QSLshop.com (German company which makes great cards) in early November. The cards were shipped to me on Jan 10th with delivery supposed to take 3-4 weeks. I have already printed all the QSL card labels and will have the replies in the mail hopefully in early Feb. This was by far the most productive opening, over 270 QSO's in 2.5 hours, it sure sounded like a contest. Pileup was hughe at times, managed to pull out lots of low power stations and several 8/9/0's , some of them peaked +20. Only missed North Dakota in the opening..but got several new grids. Tnx to all, on those not worked, tomorrow is another day 73 de ON4ANT

Wonderful day on 6m here, though missed parts of the opening. It honestly sounded like 20m during CQWW (really!) layers and layers of EU DX and at times backscatter from W1,2,3,4,8, & 8, VO1/VE1/VY2/VE9 at once. Managed T77 for a new one. (thanks!) and worked various others like YL,ES,OH2BH, etc. I did the hunt & pounce thing, so only worked a couple dozen guys. Never heard Z3 or T9 though I am almost CERTAIN they could've been workable. A lot of the signals from S5, SM, G, 9A etc. were over 9. The usual big guns from G & ON were sometimes 40-50dB over 9. Really amazing stuff. I saw a post from SM7FJE for "no dupes" during openings like these. I did indeed call him for a super-quick QSO (as I did ON4ANT) but only after hearing them CQ many times w/o response. Hope tmw brings the same condx! 73 de Mike 100w and 2 x 8el homebrew yagis. 30'ASL.

Are there any more suprises? Wow, Magic band hit me again. Average opening into Eastern US and than two hours latter an opening to the West. Managed to work 5 new States: W1IPL/7 from WY, K0GU from CO, WB9WHQ and K9BZ from WI, W0BJ from NE and finally for a desert came W7CI, Steve from AZ which is also a very good friend of mine. Hi Tony EI7BMB Yes I heard you in 50110 59+ BS. One realizes he is a DX station by the popularity he has in the bands (big pile-ups), no doubts I missed OY9JD today because of the strong TV Carriers (OY9JD is as important to me as EX8MLT is to you). Dealing with stations like me that need a new-one is not an easy task when you (the DX station) want to work something else (I feel that during the EU sporadic-e season [we are not that many in CT1, hi!] or when Iam working as 4W6EB), but you have to do it. I apreciate your comments and I hope to get OY9JD soon as I hope you can get 4W/CU3FT or me 4W6EB in 50 Mhz soon (or KP5... ooops!). Keep well and happy. Jose CT1EEB

Hola Jose, Re: OY9JD, just this morning John went out of his way to give me a new country including looking for a clear freq on his end, it took a good 5 mins to make the qso. He had 9+30 video noise this morning so maybe he simply did not hear you. I can understand your frustration but I find it hard to believe he would behave this way. Every time he keys up he starts a pileup so he is subject to frustration too when he is trying to work new countries for himself. Just my two Euro cents worth Regards Tony

hi all, didn't hear very much this morning until ... yes that's dx i hear on .110 it was a dz stn, so i give a call and he responds but says he needs my prefix, easy job you say but not when two stations then appear on the freq who know each other as they use first names immediately then go on to talk about everything and anything!!!! so no i never got the dx, thanks a lot guys, thanks for nothing that is!! these two are a pair of well known stations and i feel should know better and just good manners is preventing me from naming them , if we cant get the experienced guys to adhere to recomendations re .110 then we have no chance , the lost stn would have given me a completed WAC on 6m band and of course a new country no:#107 .... best 73 all ..well not quite all... ray

I was never ignored in my life in such a way, I'm well within 6m. and trying to bring new countries into the band like East-Timor and probably an hard to work one soon, but never ignored somebody saying that I needed that one for a NEW COUNTRY. PY8MD QSLs. The object of my exercise was to facilitate a quick exchange of cards direct between the UK and Carlos. Will those of you (several) who have sent me envelopes but not your own cards for PY8MD please send me your cards for him; I am going to mail all the cards I get for him direct as soon as I receive them. I thought I made it plain that this was not one way traffic, I was trying to do you both a favour.Sorry if my later posting did not make this plain. I am sending NOBODY a PY8MD card unless I have their card to send back to Carlos.

TNX QSO Luci and other OMs. I had heavy thunder storm on that moment. The thunder cloud and bad noise periodically came. S-meter gone to full-scale and the system became real deaf. Fortunately my 2SK571 preamp was safe against a few stroke of lightnings nearby my tower. In spit(k)e of the storm I made QSO with four Is,YU,SP,9A1CCY,9A1Z,S5s,LZ1BK and Z36W.I will be in my shack tomorrow (22nd 07Z-).Sayonara, FB DX to all.

I won't be following the advice of the DF5 station who says operate as EH6/ and I fully endorse the reply from G0JJL. I had hoped that the situation regarding operation in Spanish territory had changed but alas no, oh well it means that one of the Uk dealers isnt going to be selling and FT817 this week. I take it its okay with 144MHz as I know a few G's who have openly done this.

Bob, If I leave the rig to check cluster on the internet, it takes so long to log on, I could miss the opening.... we don't all have the luxury of all that stuff in the shack. I can only use the tools I have, and generally if I don't get an answer after ten or so CQs (unless I HAVE had a pile running) I QSY, because it's usually QRM covering me. It's also a different technique required if you don't have a kW to attract people's attention and make space on the band... And for Jose: I know many Ibicencos who will say that the Balearics are NOT Spain, hi hi.. 73

Re: Dupes: I agree fully with the statement "try not to dupe during a big pileup". That is my only rule, & not hard & fast, because sometimes stns are not sure of QSO. Lately with the great condx have been clg for "QRP Only Stns". It is a lot of fun to wrk Eu mobiles and stns running 5 watts & whips. Dont forget these are the guys who will soon have yagis & power, you have to start somewhere. In past 2 years, I have never wrked a DX stn in January, any continent, this is just so unexpected. 1700 Eu QSOs this Fall, I would never have believed it if someone told me in advance. 73 all

Unanswered CQ after unanswered CQ?? If you check the loggers/clusters- someone is always willing to spot you to give you a heads up that conditions still exist. If my CQs go unanswered after a relatively SHORT period of time: I'm tuning, checking "data" and learning what I can about the sometimes rapidly changing conditions we experience on 6m!! Endless CQs have ruined potential contacts for many. Gud 6m DX....

Regarding advice from DF5JJ....don't do it! If caught doing it not only could you have your equipment seized but your holiday may get extended whilst you explain yourself to the Spanish authorities. Then when you get home you will probably end up getting your licence revoked as you have operated outside of CEPT agreement. Another point is that you do not help licensed amateurs of the country you are visiting to get a better deal with respect to their use of the band! John, G0JJL

My policy on 6m dupe QSOs is simple: if I am calling CQ and have a pileup, even a small one, DON't call me if we've worked previously. If I am calling CQ after CQ with no one answering, please feel free to say hello and give me a signal report. I am working a lot of indoor dipole, QRP, mobile and 6m newcomers in the UK lately (I was the first QSO ever for a 2E1 station last week and directed him to the UKSMG.org Website when he didn't know his GS) and want to log as many different stations on 6m as I can, particularly the little pistols.

Today around 1600Z I heard my first KL7 calling CQ's... He was in for about 5 minutes, calling CQ and working someone. Signal was very fluttery/auroral and just above the noise. In the beginning NL7Z was good to copy. Hardly believed it was a KL7. QTF strange enough at 315 degrees which moved to 340 degrees where I lost the signal. PE1LCH who is a bit more to the north east also heard "something". Pity it didn't came to a contact. Funny, but it was the only signal on the band. All strong VE, VO and K's from earlier were gone. Shure it was an excitement. 73,

What a fabulous few months we've all had on 6m. So much for the cycle being over - long live double humps! We are looking for for volunteers! HOLD ON! Before you say, "oh no, I don't have the time" or "I'm not interested", PLEASE read on. The UKSMG is all about 6m enthusiasts enjoying a common hobby and its roll in life to help you, our members and those that use the facilties of the web site, to enjoy the hobby more. It doesn't matter whether you collect countries, don't collect QSL cards or even have the occasional moan as we all do about our "pile up competitors", duping or what have you, we all enjoy it or we wouldn't be spending the amount of time we do on that damn radio (or in chat pages)! The UKSMG has got a few challenges ahead of it in 2002 as several very long-term Committee members are standing down due to personal reasons, including myself. If the Group is to carry on providing Six News and the other facililies that you have grown to love, then we are looking for new blood in the Committee to help take us forward. This is a serious request because, without Committee members who undertake the work the Group could very easily close and go the way of many other amateur societies. We are looking to someone to take over the running of the UKSMG web site and we are looking for someone who can add resource to our secretarial function. Of course, these volunteers need to be able to devote sufficient time to do a good job so it will especially appeal to those of you have taken retirement from the daily grind. Please think about this seriously. Maybe, this would not be something that you would normally consider, but I can tell you that it can be very satisfying and enjoyable and doesn't actually take up that much time! Hell, I've managed to do it while rebuilding a house, work DX, go to ZD8 and VP8 (twice) and start a new company! Please let us know whether you would be interested in either of these roles and even if you can't, we are looking for ordinary Committee members. If you have any ideas who would be interested (even with a bit of arm twisting), let us have their names for us to contact. Have a beer, glass of wine whatever and think about it. If you are interested send me a mail. We could discuss it on the 'phone if you want to hear more. Chris G3WOS, Vice Chairman UK Six Metre Group

Jan PE1GNP: I fully disagree with your statement that the Dutch QSL bureau is a joke. Since you put this here on the announcement page I feld I need to write this. Most bureaus are working together. QSL cards are collected locally which are send to the bureau. They send it to the foreign bureaus who send it again to their regions in order to ditribute the cards to the adressed station. Some people does not pick their cards every week. So as you can see it take some time to get that card...But some stations does not use a bureau at all which means your card is "lost". Don't blame your bureau for this! I have had cards from real DX via the bureau, like JW, CY9, ET etc. Just blame those that doesn't qsl and running hundred qso's as a DX-station. Good luck and 73,

So unless a card is sent direct to me with SASE it will not get a reply. I also no longer use the BURO. I am handling 30-50 direct cards each day mostly from the US, haven't even had time to send cards for my own recently worked countries. QSL's are such a pain, would rarther just enjoy having QSO's...

Ho hum, Dupes, well yes I get my share too, but as Gordon 'ATZ says not all dupes are the same: the ones who crack a pile-up to say "hello again" are the worst, if I'm putting out CQs for half an hour with no reply please call me to say I have a path even if we have worked twenty times. Sometimes that keeps me on the band calling long enough for the other guy to get the new one.... And of course I'm not entirely innocent - I have duped OD5/OK1MU within a couple of weeks, but the second time he was getting no other callers. So is that duping, or just telling the guy his rig's still working? And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE will DX stations PLEASE use their CALLSIGNS. "59 73" for every contact is not enough - if we don't know your call we could call for ages, making your pile-up worse, then find out later that we have a dupe when we have to ask for your call..... there are faults on both sides. 73

Hmm..dupes(FWIW): Many ops are vy active, and have their logs in paper format, with no summary sheets/stats etc. It takes some REALLY good memory to recognize a station as worked if the QSO was like 2 years ago...especially if you do HF as well. This point is valid, I know by experience that a computer log is far superior...e g while listening to a W4 clg CQ, finding which W4 stations I have worked. What disturbs me more than "duping by accident" is the "POWER duping", where you break a small pistol pileup for a much needed stn just to say "- hello again"...just to let the world know that you are QROverpowered, QRSelfish, QRInconsiderate or just plain QRRuthless. So there´s dupes and there´s dupes. BTW, thanks, KG4DX for picking me out of the noise, and a big TNX to OPs like Juan TG9AJR and Ramon XE1KK who always waste precious minutes of an opening while listening for "the little people" in the noise. That´s ham spirit, folks! Cheers from Sweden .-.-.

G4UZN: Re. your comment about duping PY8MD, I have worked him 5 times so far this year. But as he called me at the beginng of an opening I don't think we can really count this as duping, can we ??? Being one of the first with propagation to the West, I'm often the only station on the band. So if I get called by PY8MD, HP2, PZ, FY etc. as happens, then should I not answer them ??? I will never break a pile-up to get a second QSO, unlike many well known G's....

DUPES: Being a relatively minor DX the problem of dupes also arises here. The only dupes I really detest are the guys who break pile-ups, some just to say hello, others because they didn’t remember working me before. I certainly don’t mind be “duped” if I’ve called CQ several times and no one has replied – at least I know I still have a path and I certainly would do the same for a DX station before he/she decides the band has closed and goes QRT i.e. PY8.

Oh dear, the dupes issue raised it's ugly head again yesterday when the OX popped up, numerous well-known (and long-held) G callsigns turning on their linears and preventing others getting a new DXCC. Again, he was a good op giving both calls every QSO so no excuses, and he made it clear when there were dupes - I listened to 3 consecutive ones. Fortunately for me I managed to get him but I did feel for the others, just like to put the record straight and say we're not all like that, some of us realise how hard it is to get those elusive new ones in the log.

I will be visiting the US Virgin Islands to operate in an HF contest at the end of March this year. I was thinking about interesting bands or modes to operate outside of the contest, and 6m came to mind. The location is on a 1,000 ft hilltop with an unobstructed view of ocean toward JA, US, and EU. I might be operating an amplifier capable of 1000W on 6m. I would need to purchase and construct an antenna (perhaps a 5-el yagi). Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with 6m, and don't know whether an operation like this would be of interest to the 6m community. How good is propagation typically in late March/early April in this point of the sunspot cycle from the Caribbean to EU and US? Is KP2 common on 6m? Before I purchase 6m equipment for the trip, I just wanted to find out from experienced 6m operators whether this sounds like a worthwhile effort or a waste of time. Thanks in advance for your advice. 73... -Dean - N6DE

G4UZN et al. The dupes thing has been particularly hard on people waiting 11 years to work Europe only to be greeted by the same callers from 11 years ago. I mean no offence but people think VK6 is VK3 and vice versa. You guys go on to work another 20 a countries a year we wait 11 years for another 2. I've worked EU stations from about 10 DXCC countries in my operating life and nothing has changed, dogpile conditions are disgraceful, you sit sweltering in the tropics or freezing your feet in Alaska and some guy calls you a lid for not working him on the first call. Continetal EU Ops have the worst reputation in the world, it is dog eat dog, and this is illustrated by the range of complaints over this page every time something rare comes up. Despite all the information exchanged when the band opens its every man for himself, ethics and operating get chucked out , the big amps get turned on, they blow away the littel guys, just to out do each other. 6M is elitismn at its best and its worst. The whole 6M scene reeks of one-up-manship, whether it be the dxcc records, the first worked lists or the standings in the world. Many of the results would not stand the scutiny of a real umpire. And years later contacts have been removed because they were downright illegal. So why worry about a few operating ethics, do we really think this legitimises things?

DUPES. Obviously sometimes this is the fault of the DX station for not giving his callsign often enough. Six is not like h.f. - a signal comes up out of the noise and you grab him quickly to get him in the log. PY8MD gave his call after every contact, and only five of the 65 stations I have cards for worked him twice (and then on two separate days). Please step forward gentlemen- G4FVP;G0RUZ(sorry Conrad);GI0OTC;GI0SFX;GW3JXN.In each case it was one contact in December and one in January - were the dupes to maintain an annual score?

Charles EI5FK, I think the point that Jon, OY9JD, was trying to make is that it is very irritating to work a pile where most are dupes. It is important to DX stations to give as many stations as possible a chance. If you work DX once a year I do not think many will mind. If you work the DX everytime you hear them then there is a big problem. As always I stand to be corrected by other DX but that is my view. Personally I would prefer that the lesser awards take on a lesser importance than DXCC especially during a peak year where I (prob many) am aslo hunting DXCC entities. If I am calling CQ and no one responds then dupes are great but I hate in a pileup to see in anything in the previous contacts window. That is my humble opinion.....P.s. got a new one today FP. Special thanks to Roy, GM0EFT, for letting me use your freq for contact. Roy, I owe you a cold one. More on the openings at http://www.qsl.net/zf1dc/ 73

hi all, as far as dupe qso's go.... firstly surely its up to the dx station to set the criteria ie: if he or she says "NO DUPES" then we must respect this request?...we all know what it feels like to work a real dx station so why would anyone want to deprive another station of this thrill by jumping in there and working the guy for a second or third time?..SELFISHNESS thats why me me me .. anyway thats what i reckon , good week on the band wkd, d44,pz5,9y4,fm5,6y and kg4 but i wont work you again guys cos theres plenty of first time contacts awaiting you im sure... thanks all for pushing me to #106.... cheers all ..ray

DUPES....Or dopes, just a comment about dupes, we dont want to be upseting stations worked in 2001 especially rare ones, OY9JD for example, We have an annual squares table and a 6 mtr award here in EI, rules... INITIAL QSO'S*DXCC*SQUARES worked, now if I dont work dupes I wont stand a chance to win the award (again) especially with 100w and a small ant !! so I hope this makes it easy for rare dx to understand why an EI like myself wants a 2nd qso again in just a few weeks. 73's Chas. Trindade 2002 DXpedition Release 2 - The Trindade 2002 DXpedition are happy to announce that they have been issued the special callsign PWØT. This fact has special meaning to many of the crew because several of them were participants in last year's extremely difficult and dangerous yet successful PW0S DXpedition to St. Peter & St. Paul Rocks. We are also proud to announce the addition of the following Pilots Stations for Asia and the Pacific; parts of the world where Trindade remains near the top of the Most Wanted lists. The DXpedition team welcomes well-known DXers Toshi JA1ELY and Duncan ZL3JT to our crew. We are certain these two accomplished DXers will insure that DXCC chasers in those critical areas get adequate coverage in what we are sure will be huge nearly nonstop pileups. 73, ( From Dennis K7BV )

The Araucaria DX Group, with unprecedented cooperation from Inepar S.A company and its Chairman Oms PY5EG, the Brazilian authorities and Navy, is proud to announce that it will sponsor a major DXpedition to Trindade & Martin Vaz Archipelago, the most eastward point of Brazilian territory. The DXpedition will operate from Trindade Island situated at 20º 30'S and 29º 18' W (grid locator HG59) 1,142 km east of the southeast Brazil state of +Espirito Santo. This will be the first lengthy DXpedition in several years to this much-needed DXCC entity. Trindade & Martin Vaz Archipelago currently appears in the Top 30 on the "Most Wanted" lists. Occurring near the sunspot peak, tens of thousands of new band/mode DXCC QSOs will be made with country collectors around the world. The team will depart Rio de Janeiro aboard a Brazilian Navy vessel on February 15, 2002. The team expects to be on the air some time during the late hours of February 18 and to operate non-stop with as many as four stations until their departure on March 2. Operations on 160 through 6 meters including the WARC bands will include RTTY, PSK31, and SSTV. Amateur satellite activity is uncertain at this time. Special plans have been made to insure that the low bands and 6 meters are activated with appropriate antennas and experienced operators dedicated to overcoming the challenges these bands offer. DXpedition Leader Andre PY0FF, taking over after months of delicate negotiations by Oms PY5EG, has gathered the following operator team: PY5CC, PY5HSD, PT7BZ, PY7XC, PY7ZY, PY7ZZ, PY0FF, N6FF and W9VA. The team received very short notice of the departure date therefore intense preparations are underway. The group will be required to pay for at least $12,000 of fuel for the Navy vessel, therefore financial support from the DX community is urgently being sought. Individual financial contributions will be deeply appreciated and acknowledged by the group. Dennis K7BV, having to cancel as an operator, will head up Publicity and Fund Raising with assistance from Bill W9VA and Steve KU9C. Watch for the DXpedition website www.Trindade2002.com to become active no later than January 19. Direct questions regarding the DXpedition to K7BV k7bv@aol.com or PY5EG Oms py5eg@inepar.com.br until the actual operating begins. Then lead Pilot Station Rod WC7N wc7n@gb.wave.net will take over coordination chores with assistance from Carl N4AA. Rod may add continental Pilot Stations in difficult to reach parts of the world like Asia. The group is pleased to have the services of renowned QSL Manager Steve KU9C, another operator who had to cancel due to business obligations. Please send early individual support contributions to K7BV. Your kind contribution can also be sent with your QSL-SASE to KU9C. Dennis Motschenbacher K7BV 4357 Appollonio Way Carson City, NV 89704. The Araucaria DX Group would like to express deep thanks to the Brazilian authorities and especially to the Brazilian Navy for its extremely important support that will permit the World Ham Radio Community to contact Trindade Island on all popular modes and bands. Please visit the Araucaria DX Group website http://araucaria.inepar.com.br/ . Cross your fingers, hi, hi !! 73s

For those who missed my previous posting, I am sitting on seventy QSLs from PY8JD for QSOs with United Kingdom stations over the Xmas-New Year period. So far only five have been claimed. Either G stations don't read this page, or don't collect QSLs. E-mail me to see if I have a card for you. I will wait one week then put them in the RSGB bureau, and you will get them when you are old. None of the guys who worked him two or three times have claimed a card - do they just like making a noise? Your own card plus a s.a.s.e. will get you something nice to put on the wall. Worked about 150 Eu's but the rate (~2/min) was very slow due to too many requests for name, grid, qsl info, etc. I was pleased to work a number of qrp and /m stations also many with verticals and dipoles and a couple of 2E's (novices I think). Anyway sorry to GU but I just could not hear you. Stopped pileup many times for GU and LX both would be new here but nothing heard. Maybe tommorow. 73

Had my "standard" Thursday afternoon off in order to look after the kids. I am afraid I was forced to terribly fail as a father, but succeeded as a 6m fanatic thanks to 6Y5RV (#189). What an opening this late in the season. Wasn't it Peter (PA1SIX) who repeatedly spotted "Season over" some days ago ? Well, was he wrong or was he wrong ? Not meant to offend you Peter, on the contrary, keep your stuff going on the Web, but just listen and be magically surprised by our beloved 6m band. Good luck everyone !

Hi all, Bit of a strange day, lots of EU backscatter compared to usual, VE8 bcn pounding in again, worked OX at last(#84), quite a few new grids in EN, EM and EL fields, but the gottaways were ZF and HR3 :-( Well, at least I HEARD them this time.... Most Caribbean stuff went overhead here. 73

Of course I asked Igor, UN7GM about joining a Dutch amateur club but at this moment he still isn't. For those not understanding. The members of the DQB can send out cards but there isn't a clear rule for foreign amateurs using the DQB via a manager. There is a rule stating that foreign amateurs may NOT use the buro otherwise the whole world may use the DQB and the members must pay for the costs. Sending out card for expeditions I did myself is not a problem (like I did with my SV5 exp. couple of years ago). This to point out that DL7AV has no clear vision of what is common at a QSL buro. We can all bitch around and repeat stereotype expressions but that still isn't a solution if you get my drift. to be continued.....

Carlos PY8MD has sent me about 70 QSLs for United Kingdom stations he worked over the Xmas/New Year period. Please send me an e-mail to confirm that I have one for you, then send a QSL for the contact to me with a SAE for a direct card. Carlos wants your cards. Unclaimed cards will go via the bureau. Some of you worked him more than once; thanks for the QRM. Cards for those of you who did not reply to my own direct QSLs will be sent at my discretion. Please note I am NOT Carlos's QSL manager - this is a one-off. 73 - Tony G4UZN

Dxpeditions dont normally qsl, I didnt need TG9 so I wont ever again, but let him work me from VK9 later this year tough. Also HH7PV the man they love to hate for qsl retiscence had no trouble sending me a direct card for VK9LE, so these guys know which side is up and how much a US dollar is worth.

For all those who don't like to sent a card direct and sent them only via the bureau I have good news....HZ1MD will become a member of one of the two Dutch ham societies. So within a couple of months QSL via the Dutch qsl bureau will become available too. But I do not sent cards for HZ1MD if I haven't received a card or request for it yet. But I am sure the qsl service for HZ1MD cards will become much better than many others! 73,

About QSL: TI5KD - Some of my friends and I received his QSL recently after we sent our QSL 40-60 days ago. We all sent QSL with SAE+US$1. UK9AA - It takes 30-40 days to receive his QSL in Japan after you send your QSL. XW0X - He recommends to send QSL+SAE+IRC's, not send US$1, on his web site(http://www.qth.com/dxshack/QRV-QSL-News/21-OCT-01.htm). GL.

HI Peter, I think you could send QSL direct to FG5BG, with a green stamp and SAE at his adress: Georges Santtalikan, 44 rue Amedee Fengarol, F-97130 Capesterre b/e, Guadeloupe. I have received Georges QSL 2 weeks after sending mine. Good luck ! About 5R8EE QSL, first at all: the buckmaster or QRZ adresses are wrong; second: the DL7AV answer on this page is right. Re UN7GM, HZ1MD QSLs. I would like to repeat what a well known 6m DXer stated here some time ago: “a qsl mgr who will not respond via the bureau has no business being a mgr to begin with”. “All mgrs need to service bureau requests, purely and simply. If they can't or won't, don't take on the task”. A good example: you can get the QSL’s for OH2BH’s expeditions via the bureau.

Note the following Due to the fact I willingly posted my email address on this page and also on arrl web site, qrz.com, buckmaster and qsl net all three callsign emails kl7six at amsat.org, vk3ot at arrl.net and vk3six at qsl.net are compromised beyond any further use. My spam email has dropped from 1000 per week to zero. I refuse to give out my email address publically so do not ask and you wont be offended. Sadly thoe with legitimate access needs such as QSL cards are now denied access. But I refuse to pay the data costs of downloading 50,000 email spams of debauchery, nuisance, get rich schemes, freaks and wierdos. Sad thing is how easy these cretins access legitimate email servers on sites like these. 73 vk3six guess where.

5R8EE QSL: What I have learned, Michel says all letters he receives are opened and the contents are stolen. He has no money to answer QSL cards and he does not want to have a QSL manager. Hello friends in Europe. I just wanted to thank you for the 6M QSO's in Nov, Dec 01 and Jan 02 (so far). I also wanted to clarify my location during this period. From 11 Nov 2001 to 21 Nov 2001, I was at my cabin QTH in DM35re. Before 11-11-01 and after 22 Nov 01, I was in DM43bl. Some of you I worked twice, but it was from 2 different grid squares (not dupe QSO'). If you chase the grid (or care), just thought I'd let you know, as in a lot of the QSO's, we only exhanged reports. Some of the "dupes" that come to mind are GM0EWX, OZ4VV, GI0OTC, G0JHC, IK1MTZ, FR1GZ, GW4VEQ, MM0AMW, ON4ANT, CT1DYX, CT1EEB, EH7GTF, F6FHP, G3FPQ and a few others. If you want 2 grids for one mailing, I can oblige. Cheers and thanks for the good times and I'm still looking toward Europe. Best 73 and good DX in 2002. Tommy W7RV DM43/DM35

The final CEPT answer is here regarding operating in the UK! I spoke with Aaron at the Radiocommunications Agency Amateur and CB licensing section yesterday. Aaron is "Mr CEPT" and so you most forget what your mate told you down the club or on the air. Even what the local RA man told you at the last rally. Here goes....If you have a Class 1 or Class 2 CEPT licence and you visit the UK you must obey UK regulations. If the band you wish to use in the UK is available to UK licensees of the same CEPT class then you can use it. This includes 6m and 4m no matter what the situation is back home. You can use your own callsign prefixed with M/ or operate the station of a UK amateur using his callsign. At last all very clear!! Cheers John G0JJL

Clive,G4FVP if its like other dials it is a photo chopper device a bit like a multi turn pot, only solution is to buy exact spare part from Icom and put it in, all you need is spanner, soldering iron, and good eyes and patience. They do grind to a halt when the shaft bearings disintegrate.

Very happy to report that I FINALLY worked our good friend Nick 5B4FL (G3KOX) on 6m this morning, despite the fact I slept in late and had to leave my first solid Middle Eastern opening early. I heard Jy9NX up to 539 (no QSO), 4x1if 519, 5B4AGM to 579 (called Ben for 15mins with 2 x 8el & 350w) but he evidentally had QRN his side. Thanks very much Nick. John G0JJL:- This may have changed since with the new licenses, but I had a visiting PD1 with me at the Hatfield House rally, and I specifically asked at the RA stand if he could operate under his own call as G/PD1xxx,and they said NO, only under my call and under supervision. Which raises an interesting point, could he use 6M using my call, where he can't in PA land, as he is band restricted. I would assme so, I never asked at the time, as he was only interested in 2M. Hi group - about backup of N1RZ chat: mIRC as suggested below is great, but a little complicated for some ops. A simpler approach - no download, no bells/whistles - wud be to point your browser at http://www.it.mah.se/6mchat.htm which is a temporarily revived UKSMG, bare-bones chat in a Java applet. Re VK3SIX's and others' comments concerning reciprocal licensing etc. I think everyone is clear on the intra European situation and in any event the master text of the Recommendation (T/R 61-01) governing the CEPT agreement, can be downloaded from the CEPT site at http://www.ero.dk . But be careful about the situation for European licensees operating in non European countries that have opted to participate in the CEPT scheme since there may be differences or nuances in the arrangements. This is not reciprocity as we used to know it but a third country (such as the US or Australia) voluntarily joining an Agreement established by another group of countries. This can have particular consequences for the licence classes that can operate under under the CEPT agreement. But in general the basic rule is when in Rome do what the Romans do! In fact the CEPT arrangement was modeled on the international driving licence i.e. you drive on the side of the road used in the visited country! I must admit that I think that for many years the UK misinterpreted (or added to) the text of the original Recommendation but it's now nice to see the rules being interpreted in a similar manner throughout Europe. Frequency band questions are sometimes difficult but even in Europe (outside the CEPT arrangement) it is still possible to obtain sometimes, on a case by case basis, agreements, permits or special licences (reciprocal or otherwise) to operate on a frequecy that it is not generally available for visitors or for anyone. For example, I obtained a permit to operate on a spot frequency of 70.2 MHz in 5B4 several years ago. 73s

Any station operating in the USA under reciprocity must obey the rules applying to USA. The rules applying to the host licence do not apply. So when in USA under VK3SIX I could run 1500 watts not the 400 under my VK licence. If I broke any rules they were FCC not Aussie CA, If you come to VK you cannot sign VK portable, you have to purchase an Australian licence based upon your foreign quals. No morse VHF only etc. In the USA you can sign /G call no problems like Flo KL7/G4DMA is and use bands up to the limits of region, eg west of 150 7.075 to 7100 ssb KL7/KH6 etc but not in lower 48 etc. You can apply to the FCC if you intend to stay longer than 3 months but less than that just sign W#/UK call. If you pass US exams and they are less than extra class you lose the 25 kHz band edge priviledges like I did when I changed from VK3SIX to KL7SIX no exceptions even though I had them in VK under my Aussie call. So often it is better to stay with your foreign call except there is a 6 mo limit.

Further to the CEPT question and reply CEPt Info From RA Web site: B) Visiting licensees Can I operate in the UK under my current amateur radio licence? Yes, if you hold a licence issued by a country that has implemented CEPT Recommendation T/R 61-01. If you are uncertain whether your country has done so, you can find out by contacting the Radio Licensing Centre (RLC) whose address is shown at the end of this Information Sheet. Seems very clear! What licence conditions must I obey? You must, first and foremost, operate in accordance with the Terms, Provisions and Limitations of the UK Licence, copies of which are available free on request from the RLC. Still quite clear! In addition, you must comply with the conditions of your home licence unless such compliance would result in a breach of UK licence conditions, e.g. even if your licence permits you to operate in your own country on higher powers than are permitted in the UK, when operating in the UK you must limit yourself to the appropriate power for the band in question, given in the Schedule to the UK licence. Oh dear a bit open to interpretation now! Can I operate the station of a UK radio amateur? Yes, with the permission of the UK licensee. You may operate his equipment under your own licence, using your own callsign, as if it were your own station, or you may operate under the direct supervision of the UK licensee and under his licence using the UK licensee's callsign Gone clear again! What documentation do I need to carry when operating in the UK? You must carry your home licence which must be in English and a copy of the current UK Licence Terms, Provisions and Limitations Booklet. Very clear again! I would say that so long as you operate within the rules of the host country you are okay. For instance would CEPT allow a G station visiting the USA to use the extra bit of 40m they are allocated over there? I guess it would!

The Radiocommunications Agency web page is: www.radio.gov.uk Here you will find all the addresses you require for their HQ in London and their Regional offices. You can also view online and download the current series of BR68 Terms and Conditions Booklets for amateur radio licensees. Note the in the CEPT section that the bit about only operating in the UK on the bands you have available back home has now been omitted, hence if the UK allows it you can use it! Also you no longer need to record RF power in your log books in units of dBW. Simple Watts(W) is now permitted.

Joe, DH4JG regarding using 6m in the UK then YES YOU CAN under the present CEPT agreement. As Neil, G0JHC quite rightly points out this was not always the case. The rules used to say that if you did not have access to the band in your own country then you could not use it in the UK as a visitor. This has now been relaxed as the Radiodiocommunications Agency thought it irrelevant what the rule was in your own country regarding a particular band. When in the UK only UK rules apply under CEPT! Have fun on 6m and if you get the chance 4m (70MHz) too ! John, G0JJL

Mike it is a very grey area, however, this example might be useful. A couple of years ago IK0OKY stayed here. He wanted to try 70MHz. But I was told "technically" he couldnt use his callsign at my station because he didnt have a 70MHz permit back in Italy, despite the UK allocation. He could however use my call, under supervision.

- Tuesday, January 08, 2002 at 15:13:56 (GMT/BST)
Joe, DH4JG: Usually CEPT allows you to use what you can use at home (ie no home permit, no 6m ops anywhere), unless the country you are visiting has tighter laws than at home, but it might be a grey area... for instance I can't operate in Spain (no EH permit) on 6m, though other bands okay. BUT in the UK, 6m is a general allocation even for CEPT Class 2. Does anyone have an address for the Radio Comms Agency handy?

Re.FM on 6m. For the past few years I have operated /p or /m from the north downs in southern UK on a regular basis using an Alinco DRMO6 (20w fm only)and have noticed a real deline in fm activity. In the past I have worked LA, SM and GM etc during the summer but last year I did not hear or work any DX on fm despite the fact that I have often heard the bottom part of the band 'going crazy' with strong ssb signals!! I will persevere however, so listen for me on 51.51 on a Sunday afternoon. 73 de Peter.

Anyone have any thoughts on "ground-mounting" a rotator (Yaesu G800dxa on hb tilt-over base at @3' with 30' mast/guy ring collar/6M7JHV above)? My reason is to keep the topside weight to a minimum (plenty of wind here at this KH6 qth)and also to make it easier to put up/take down. I wonder if any other sixers have tried something like this (or could it be too much for the Yaesu mast clamps top & bottom?) Any comments appreciated! Jeff

Ray & Bert... We've (WB2AMU & I ) been trying to activate 4U1UN for a year but they have no 6m rig or antenna. We'll keep trying but it doesn't look good....you need to have a UN staff member with you in the station & they all have work to do & don't want to come back on weekends. Also security is very tight so it's not easy to gain access to the station with our own radios.

To those stns who may think I don't respond to QSL's via bureau....I just got a packet of QSL's about an inch thick from the incoming bureau. Seems like my call change in 1997 from WA3HMK to W3CMP and my move in 1996 (less than a mile from old QTH) threw everyone at the bureau off. I'm slowly wading through them to see if they may duplicate QSL's already sent and responded to directly. Some cards go back to 1995 ZF2CP operation. One outgoing packet was mailed yesterday; I expect another will go out Monday. Sorry if anyone was inconvenienced; I was never aware of the problem at the incoming bureau. On January 4, 2002, an explosion on the Sun hurled an unusually beautiful coronal mass ejection (CME) into space. "The complexity and structure of the CME amazed even experienced solar physicists at the SOHO operations center," says Paal Brekke, the SOHO Deputy Project Scientist. Although the eruption was not substantially Earth-directed, the outskirts of the expanding CME might nevertheless sweep past our planet on Jan. 6th or 7th and trigger geomagnetic activity.

I hope to update my web page with stats and have the log search working in about a week or so. Roughly, in 14 days on the air I worked: CW: 156 NA, 150 EU, and 2 SA SSB: 122 NA, 228 EU, 2 SA, and 1 OC. (Unusual that I worked more SSB than CW!) I'll save the list of countries for the web page. Never heard the VE8BY beacon so strong. Pity it is in a no ham area. Could have worked a dozen VE's overthere. Good compensation was VO2AC, OX3OX and VE2HOG for it. This station was the only station of hundres with a distinct auroral flutter, just like the signals sound like on 20m from UA9/0. I can find no info on this station but am not surprised by this, I am virtually certain this was a real over the pole station. Does anyone have any info? HNY to All, 73 Bruce

Today JW/OK1XC via bureau. Nice card! So a new DXCC confirmed. Still no card from JWoPK! So far I only have seen single spots of people receiving the JW0PK card. How many have got the card allready? Regarding my HZ1MD QSL-manager job I can tell that when everything is going as planned I will have the cards ready around the third week of January. I would like to receive SAE with IRC or $. No cards via the buro because the Dutch QSL bureau would not accept HZ1MD cards. Sorry about that! 73 and good DX,

A tip for DX-atlas, use a screen grabber to copy the map, it takes less space and allows better sizing. I have make a collection of the map in gif format takes only 1/20 of the space on your harddisk/website, drop me a mail if you like a copy. 73 Johan

PSK-31 on 6m - Pete PE1MHO - I think the reason is that it is too slow to make QSOs with PSK-31. On HF PSK-31 the QSO rate is terrible (except maybe for D68C!) - most HF PSK-31 operators send a load of unwanted information. 73

Even MORE useful stuff (for DXATLAS): You have a file with all your worked grids somewhere? In an Excel spreadsheet or some log program? Export the four first figures (JO65) into a text file, one grid per line. Name the file squares.wkd and put it into your DXATLAS directory - WHAM, all worked grids visible next time you start the program and zoom to a certain level! Much better than right-clicking and marking each worked square.... :-) Save the picture as a BMP, print out, ready for showing off! Cheers

Got the tip from a G stn to use DXATLAS - shareware, free trial period - which lets you save selected maps/cutouts as .bmp files for later processing in e g Paintshop/Photoshop for subsequent printout. Amazing program, you can track worked grids, resolve calls, check greyline stuff etc etc. www.dxatlas.com

Firstly I think a good address for HH7PV is, Patrick de Verteuil, Abricots via Jeremie, Haiti (W.I). That was the address on my 1989 QSL to G3SDL and the one I will try for today's QSO. Re Irish stamps, after the introduction of the Euro stamps marked in the old currency (e.g. 32p from Europe and 45p from elsewhere) can be used during 2002. From 2003 stamps marked in € (EUR) must be used. 73s

I heard the JW7SIX beacon today @ 1620z the strongest I ever heard it. OX3SIX was also noted unusally strong. About an hour later JX7DFA reported hearing my CW CQ and also heard K1TOL and N1RZ. Tantalizing, but no QSOs made to the extreme north Atlantic today. JX7DFA said he will be QRV on 6m tomorrow at around 1630z looking for N-Am and will alert JW5IRA as well. Here's hoping... Also had an interesting opening to F, EH, CT today for about an houring starting at around 1826z. Signals were VERY strong (up to 59+50) and it 'felt' like a multi-hop Es event, not F2 or Es+F2. This band just continues to amaze me. What will I do with my life once the 6m propagation bonanza abates? Bill AA6TT Topsham VT FN34

Worked some new DXCC's in the Caribean and several new US-grids within the last days, but had never a skip to FM. VP2VI was very weak all the days. Doug VK4ADC: You can compress WAVE files to about a tenth of their size, either to RealAudio ( .ra ) format with a free encoder http://proforma.real.com/rnforms/products/tools/producerbasic/index.html?key=GRZWD1009979416 or MP3 format for which there are lots of free encoders. Do use a fairly low sampling rate to give a small file.

Dx in VK4 around QG62 has been quiet of late so I have had a chance to extract a couple of QSOs from the recordings of the openings to the UK on the 31st October 2001 and get the electronic copies of the logs on the web site up to date. My CW contact with G4ASR and another with GW3JXN (along with Peter VK4APG's) have been extracted and the WAV files zipped. Even so, the download size is 1.8MB for the G4ASR QSO and 3.3MB for the GW3JXN file. The links are at the bottom of my web page at http://www.ozhelpservices.com/vk4adc.htm for those who are interested in hearing what it was like from this end. Happy New Year all 6m fanatics ! One thing I've noticed in the recent excellent DX openings is that some DX stations are operating quite high up the band (e.g. 50.300) - this is a good idea to get away from the crowded .100 - .150 section, but I remember from the last sunspot cycle that it was considered better for marginal paths to use the lowest possible frequency e.g. 50.003, etc. I realise that with the MUF at 56MHz or wherever this may make no difference, that the beacon band has spread to fill the lower 80kHz, that some countries may not permit operating in this part of the band, but maybe we should use the bottom 15kHz of the band more ? (Without causing QRM to EME stations) Any thoughts ? 73

Hi, Dec 31 was phenomenal with over 20 coutries in EU worked. I managed to work my 100th country when OY9JD broke a W1 pileup and my 101st when TF8ITT broke the same pileup minutes later. See www.qsl.net/zf1dc for full details. Please qsl info for TF8ITT (by email preferably, tnx). Saw he posted it to cluster but it was cutoff on the DXSummit display. Woke up today hoping for more of same but power was off here, island wide, from 7am until 3pm. Ran radio on backup power but no computer log so listened mostly. Hoping for good condx agn. 73 and Happy New Year to all.

Phenominal day on six---since 1800z about 250 Q's ranging from VE1/VE9 to W5,6, 7 and ending up with JA and DU...and the band's still open here in KH6! (now 0111z the 2nd day of this new year)...

Pretty good day with EU in on scatter (then later direct) and super loud Carib. Later worked 5 KH6's and V73. Heard Jy9NX several times as he moved around the band. Every time he was spotted there were blind callers (grrr). Did have a good (small) pileup gg on 120 @ one point, QSX up 4, but I didn't have enough juice to work him. Maybe next time! Bo, since y-day I started to do the same as our great friend 5CC from you-know-where. Just call 'new stations only' ! It works and for those who have cheese in their ears, well, just ignore them. I still exchange locators and still have a average of 1 or 2 a minute in SSB depending on conditions of course. I get fed up with the dupes too but when I call CQ several times without reply it's nice to say something else as CQCQ hi...73 HNY to all, Ray

Hmm..."6M SWL" - abt grid exchanges - yes, efficency is a keyword these days, true. On the other hand I kindof like the somewhat relaxed attitude that many ops still have.. I just loved to hear 6Y5RV today, I could actually see him smile at every new contact. Many of the W:s are also quite cool...if you dont get that square/county/WAB/whatever today, maybe tomorrow....HAM spirit, sort of. I find myself giving the locator by mistake sometimes, simply because I´m a "trained VHF monkey" (from 144MHz & up) and get so surprised when I *do* get thru a 6m pileup :-) So there´s two sides of it. BTW, your posting fits better in the "Gripes" page on the site :-) HNY anyhow! PS: Abt the OK stn....what can you say....Well, I must confess to duping FY5KE the other day, he worked SSB, and didn´t give his callsign for an eternity...until AFTER our QSO. It happens.....but that OK stn thing is vy low....

Ken CMV- and others interested- , abt 6Y5RW vs RV: This is what I found, I judge it as reliable: Callsign: 6Y5RV Name: RUEL CORNIFFE Addr1: WHITE SAND BEACH P.O. Addr2: MONTEGO BAY JAMAICA WEST INDIES, Country: JAMAICA Effective: County: Approximate Grid: Email: seacom1@juno.com ************ Snippet from N1RZ Tims site - a truly brilliant resource!

Can anyone tell me why one OK1 called and worked one VK friend of mine five times for five qsos during recent opening into VK?? Chased him up and down the band, even when the poor guy was calling OM OM only, (he didnt get Slovakia but ack'ed the OK1 5 times). Talk about embarrassing. And these damn LOCATORS, guys prolong the qos's and squandered valuable dx time with requests for LOC get them off the damn qsl cards. I think it has been too good too long nd soon we will know what that mans and wished we made more effective use of the windows.. Otherwise Happy New DX Year.

Hmm...yep, Ken CMV - another opening, but a lot later and not so deep/intense. That 6Y5 puzzles me. I was absolutely sure I had the call as 6Y5RW, but the cluster spots all said RV. Guess we have to sort it out, there can´t be too many ops in Montego bay... BTW, that QSO *really* made me sick for palm trees and white beaches....CU all and HNY to all!

Ken SM7CMV: In PA we have new stamps with the euro sign on it and also the price in that new currencie. The old stamps will be sold till the office runs out of them. Also we can use the old and new stamps at the same time and there's no date when this will stop. But of course there is a new price for the new euro stamps. And they are not cheapper!!

As Mike says another quiet day in the UK, most of the DX seems to be going over our heads, very little from the Caribbean here since the 26th. However, true to form around our dusk, the W8/9s popped up again briefly today. And I'm also waiting for the XW0 card, could be the Xmas post delays.

A humble wish to the W/VE stations: Just exchange RS(T) and please wait with the grid info. The grids can be worked out AFTER the QSO. (Some stns even stayed on the QRG for 5 minutes after the QSO asking for the grid…….) I’m in JO65ML(=ok in buck or qrz.com). Yesterday I had a QSO rate of 2,6/min but without all grid info and state/name we could have given +200 stations more the chance to work SM! Some of the dupes are also………irritating....

Once again a happy 2002 to everyone. I have some questions about stamps I use for SASE. First: Are the stamps from the EURO-countries i.e. France Germany Spain still valid or have you got new stamps in EURO ? Second question: My neighbours visited New York during XMAS and bought me a lot of 80 cents stamps - but they bought them at United Nations building so my question is - can I use the UN-stamps for SASE all over USA or must the letters be posted at UN- HQ?

My goal in September 2001 was to reach 900 grids (had 35 to go). In Nov I said 1000 would be fantastic. On the 28th of Dec 29 grids were missing. Before yesterdays opening 11 grids to the magic figure. Starting the new year 2002 with 1007 grids worked! SIX is MAGIC! X-tra fun yesterday was PJ2, J87 and W7 (Wyo).
